Data Use Policy
Last updated: September 7, 2026
The regulatory filings behind SpreadVista are publicly available through the SEC's EDGAR system. The connected view — resolved borrowers and claims across managers and vehicles, cross-validated against the filers' own subtotals — is the work we publish. Research on it is open. Wholesale extraction of it is not.
Permitted
- Human research
- Browse, search, compare and analyze any public page, signed in or not.
- Derived analysis
- Calculate ratios, make charts, compare figures, write research and commentary, cite observations and build presentations from what you see here. The analysis and conclusions you produce are yours.
- Citation with attribution
- Quote figures and screenshots in articles, research notes, presentations and academic work. Attribute as "SpreadVista (spreadvista.com)", link to the page, and keep the reporting period the page shows.
- Linking
- Link to any public page. Deep links to companies, credits, vehicles, sectors and the corrections ledger are stable URLs.
- Small, manual exports
- Where a page offers an export, use it for your own analysis. Exports are sized for a human workflow, not for rebuilding the database.
- Checking our work
- Every public observation carries its reporting period and source. Report anything that does not match the filing from the corrections ledger.
Restricted
- Bulk scraping
- Automated collection of pages or application responses at volume, including crawling entity pages to assemble a dataset.
- Systematic database reconstruction
- Reconstructing the served dataset, in whole or in material part, from exports, pages or application responses, so that the result reproduces or substitutes for SpreadVista’s structured data service.
- Automated collection at scale outside the documented API
- Programmatic access must use the documented API under its own terms and quotas; undocumented application endpoints and headless browsers are not the public API.
- Commercial redistribution of a substitute dataset
- Selling, sublicensing, bundling or serving to your own customers a dataset that reproduces or substitutes for SpreadVista’s structured data service. Publishing your own analysis, commentary or research that uses SpreadVista observations is not this.
- Circumventing rate limits or access controls
- Rate limits and access controls apply to all use and are enforced independently of this policy.
- Removing provenance
- Presenting SpreadVista figures without their reporting period, or as if they were the filer’s own statements.
Publishing analysis derived from SpreadVista observations is not the same as redistributing a SpreadVista database: the first is research, the second is the service we license. Need more than a page offers — a bulk extract, a feed, redistribution rights or programmatic access at volume? Ask: jamel@spreadvista.com.
Attribution format
“Source: SpreadVista (spreadvista.com), as of the filer's [reporting period]; observations extracted from SEC filings.” Link to the page the figure came from. Do not describe SpreadVista figures as the filer's statements: they are extracted and cross-validated observations, and the methodology explains how.
Not investment advice
SpreadVista is a research tool built on public disclosures. Nothing on the site is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, and SpreadVista does not judge whether any manager's mark is right. Verify critical figures against the original filing before acting on them.
Corrections
Material corrections are published on the corrections ledger, where you can also report a data issue. The full Terms of Service govern use of the service; this page explains the data-use part of them in plain language and does not replace them.
